Mizoram : 28 People Got Arrested For Breaking Prohibitory Rules In New Year Celebration

AIZAWL : In order to maintain a peaceful and pollution free environment, departments from various states had issued certain prohibitory orders prior to and in relation with the New Years celebrations of 2023.

But crackers were bursted in towns and villages despite the prohibitory rules. A case has come to light from the state of Mizoram, where twenty eight people have been apprehended for violating the set rules. 

A number of 26 cases have been registered within Aizawl Municipal Corporation authorities. C Lalruaia, the SP of Aizawl made a revelation on 2nd of January, Monday regarding people selling and acquiring firecrackers, toy guns and sky lanterns. 

16 arrests has been made in Aizawl, Kulikawn, Bawngkawn and Vaivakawn police station areas. 15 cases were registered by the district magistrate of Aizawl in relation with breaking the protocols, stated the SP. 

12 individuals got nabbed and 11 cases has been launched in three police station respectively. People welcomed the New Year with huge fireworks in the state of Mizoram. The violation of rules has been recorded in all districts apart from Khawzawl district headquarters.

The secretary of Mizoram state pollution control board (MSPCB), C Lalduhawma, informed that reports of air and noise pollution on 31st of December 2022 are yet to be released.

However, the New Year celebration in Mizoram included thanksgiving ceremonies, worship services, prayers and congregational singing in churches. Community fests were also held in churches across the state.

Every church conducted special midnight prayers to bid farewell to the year 2022.

The security on the other hand was beefed up and strict surveillance was carried on by the district administration. Police stated on 1st of January, that six people got arrested for using firecrackers during the celebration phase.
