AIZAWL: Chief Minister of Mizoram, Zoramthanga has extended his gratitude to all Samaritans for their thoughtful help like donating garments and cash to stranded Mizo communities currently staying at Silchar Mizoram House. He further added that the intervention from the Ministry of Home Affairs will continue to maintain peace between the two States.

Meanwhile, Mizoram Home Secretary Lalbiaksangi had written to her Assam counterpart G D Tripathi, requesting him to ensure the safety of all stranded Mizos staying in Silchar, amid the growing border tensions between the two States.

Lalbiaksangi, urged Tripathi to prevent any retaliatory move towards the Mizo community living in Assam by groups with 'vested interest'.

Tension between the Assam-Mizoram border continued since last month. Several houses were set ablaze that further escalated the tension between people living along the inter-State boundary.

The situation is still tense, particularly after the death of the 45-year old man from Assam. Muslim organisations of Assam have urged the people to stay calm and maintain peace.
