Mizoram: Govt School Teacher Accused of Sending 6-Year-Old Girl Home Half-Naked

Aizawl: A six-year-old girl in Thangpui village of Lunglei district of Mizoram was sent home by a teacher half-naked from school.

Meanwhile, the Mizo Jerlai Pawl (MZP) - the apex student body in Mizoram - has demanded the immediate sacking of the school teacher. The MZP said in a statement, "The teacher Mrs Lalbiakengi has committed a gross violation of human rights by sending her student home in this manner.

It states: He is not qualified to continue as a teacher and must be terminated in accordance with the laws. On the other hand, the victim girl's mother alleges that her daughter was also assaulted by a boy in the school.

"On 22 August she was beaten up by a boy. Further, on August 25, the same boy again assaulted her. The next day I went to school and scolded the boy", the victim's mother stated.

Later in the day, the teacher took the girl's school dress and sent her half-naked and sent home.

The victim is currently undergoing treatment at the John William Hospital in Lunglei.

Earlier in Assam, a 48-year-old school teacher was apprehended for allegedly sexually assaulting a 6-year-old girl student in Assam's Karimganj district. As per reports, the police nabbed the accused after the girl's parents lodged a complaint at Bazaricherra police.

The matter came to light when the girl refuses to go to school. When the mother asked about the reason, the girl apprised her of one teacher named Kamala Kanta Sinha who allegedly sexually abused her repeatedly.

Following the complaint, the police arrested Sinha, under section 376AB of the Indian Penal Code (sexually assaulting females under twelve years of age) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012.
