Sairang is located about 30 KM west of Aizawl, the capital city of Mizoram.

The deceased man, identified as Sawma or Zo Robota, was allegedly found dead by hanging, while his live-in partner was apparently hit on her head with a blunt object, which has caused her death.

The preliminary investigation into the case shows that the man first killed his partner and then hanged himself. Their bodies were found in their house on Monday at around 8 PM.

The residents of the area said that both, the man and the woman were alcoholics. They had been living together for months. The couple did not have any children. Both of them were last seen together in the local market on Monday morning. Further investigations on the case are underway.

In another shocking incident, which happened early in November last year, five members of a family were found dead in Kokrajhar's Gossaigon. The five of them committed suicide.
