Aizawl: In a shocking incident in Mizoram's Aizawl, a 30-year-old missing woman was found lying dead in a hotel's elevator shaft.
The deceased lady has been identified as Vanlalhmangaihzuali Fanai, a resident of Lunglei located in south Mizoram.
As per reports the victim woman was working as a Muster Roll at P&E Revenue Sub-division Lunglei and was preparing for a competitive exam.
On Wednesday 13 April, Fanai along with her boyfriend arrived at the hotel in Aizawl to appear for a competitive examination. After one day i.e. on Thursday 14 April, the woman went missing from the hotel where she was staying before her exam.
The boyfriend on being unable to find Fanai took no time to approach the police and filed a missing report on the same day.
Police started a thorough investigation of the case based on the complaint lodged by the missing woman's boyfriend. Following a search operation on Wednesday 20 April, the police team recovered the dead body of the Fanai inside the elevator shaft of the hotel.
According to the preliminary investigation, police officials suspect that Fanai fell into the elevator shaft from a broken elevator door in the hotel lobby. As per the police suspension, the elevator door was supposed to be closed when the elevator has not reached the floor.
The dead body has been sent for post-mortem and after the autopsy report, it will be sent to the hometown of the woman informed sources.
Meanwhile, the family members of the deceased woman claim that Fanai did not die accidentally and alleged that she was murdered.
However, the boyfriend has been taken under police custody for further interrogation in connection with the mysterious death of his girlfriend.
