Aizawl: Mizoram Police on Thursday nabbed a man from Assam's Cachar district for allegedly being involved in the kidnapping of a 3-year-old girl.
The arrested person was identified as Fairul Haque who is a resident of the Cachar district.
As per the police statement, on Tuesday, Lawngtlai police station received information that a woman from Bagha in Assam's Cachar district was beaten up and thrown out of a car at Thingkah village in south Mizoram's Lawngtlai district from the same town and two other persons from Assam.
Three accused also kidnapped the woman's 3-year-old daughter and ran away with Rs 1.5 lakh cash belonging to her.
Following this, a team of Lawngtlai police immediately launched an investigation into the incident, and after relentless investigation; the car was recovered on the roadside about 5km away from Thingfal village in Lunglei district on Tuesday midnight.
All the police stations in Mizoram and Cachar district were alerted and after a thorough search, Fairul Haque was apprehended in Cachar district with the help of Cachar police.
As per the statement, the kidnapped has also been reunited with her relatives in Cachar.
Meanwhile, the police have launched a manhunt to arrest the other two accused.
