Mizoram: Lalmuansangi Varte was selected amongst 31 state winners of VLCC Femina Miss India 2020 to represent Mizoram in the beauty pageant.

Varte is a 5.6 feet tall beauty hailing from Champai district in the eastern part of Mizoram bordering Myanmar, which is commonly known as the 'Rice bowl of Mizoram'.

She won the second runner-up title in Miss Mizoram 2020 and has been selected by Miss Mizoram Organisation to represent Mizoram in the pageant Femina Miss India because of her beauty, grace, intellect and poise.

She completed her Master's degree in English literature and is currently a trainee teacher pursuing her degree in Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) at Mizoram University.

She has been battling heart disease ever since she was a five-year-old child and also suffered from dyslexia- a learning disability. However, she continued to persevere to achieve her dream despite her sufferings.

With the help of her parents and her teacher, she finally overcame her problem after several years of battle.

The Mizo beauty queen wants to become a teacher herself so that she could be an inspiration to those who face the same problem that she did and build their confidence to be whoever they want to be in life.

Varte ousted its rival Celina Chakma in the online interview held on Sunday.
