Aizawl: The Mizoram government on Wednesday 16 March informed that the schools across the state will reopen for all classes from 5th April 2022.
The decision has been taken after emphasizing the improvement in the COVID-19 situation across the state which shows less risk associated with physical classes.
The Mizoram Education Minister Lalchhandama Ralte stated to the school department authorities and representatives of teachers' associations that students have suffered a great loss in education because of schools being closed for a long time due to covid pandemic.
The minister further said that the school will be reopened in Manipur from the fresh academic session starting from the 5th of the next month.
It is informed that the decision by the Mizoram school education has been taken following the school reopening normally and regularly in different regions across the country.
The minister said the announcement came after consultations with higher officials and after a thorough study on SOPs imposed by the government.
Special arrangements will be made for those students who failed to complete their classes 10 and 12 board exams for the year 2022.
Ralte informed that the school education department by the time has completed all the formalities and other required arrangements for the school reopening in Mizoram.
All private schools will charge 100% school fees with the commencement of the new academic session as informed by the authorities.
It may be mentioned that schools across the state were closed for many months from March of the year 2020 because of the rise in COVID-19 infection and its spread over the masses.
Since then students were attending classes through online mode while some had competed for loss connection with their studies which resulted in an extreme loss of learning.
In 2021, schools were reopened for a few days after the state saw a decline in covid positive cases but they were again shut down from 8th January 2022 except for class X and XII.
