DIMAPURI: As the election date draws closer in the state of Nagaland, the election campaigning has picked up pace among the leaders of the different political parties who have posted their candidates. And so has the number of verbal attacks among the leaders of different parties. In one of the most recent developments, Jairam Ramesh attempted a jibe on Narendra Modi.
Jairam Ramesh is a senior leader as well as a Member of Parliament for the Indian National Congress. He called out the state government of Nagaland and Narendra Modi over what he called a ‘list of broken promises’. He also recalled the Bharatiya Janata Party’s slogan in the previous elections while highlighting that no solution has been seen for the Naga political problem as of now.
“The PM's slogan for the 2018 Nagaland polls was ‘Election for Solution’. Five years later, with NO solution along with a long list of broken promises and tall claims, the only thing the PM can offer for 2023 polls is the slogan an ‘Election for Confusion’,” Jairam Ramesh tweeted.
He asked took a jibe at the NDPP chief Neiphiu Rio and his ‘masters in Delhi’ as he questioned the reasons why the political solution to the longstanding issue of the state has not been reached yet.
“In the last five years, with the type of majority the state government had, the BJP had in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, whatever solution they had in mind would already have been done,” he mentioned while speaking in the capital city of Nagaland.
The political problems that have been in the election agendas for previous elections deal with the demands for a separate constitution as well as a separate flag for the state of Nagaland. Another key demand from the state in the last year was for a separate Frontier Nagaland comprising multiple districts and a large section of the population.
