Kathak workshop held in Roing

Extra-curricular activities should be concentrated upon as it helps in the all-round development of the children.

Roing: Deputy Commissioner Soumya Saurabh attended the valedictory function of the 15-day classical Kathak dance workshop organized by the North East Zonal Cultural Centre (NEZCC), Nagaland in collaboration with the Department of Art and Culture and the district administration, which concluded on Thursday.

The DC gave away certificates to the participating children.

Addressing the gathering, she appreciated the dance teacher for her dedication in teaching the children and encouraged the parents present to send their children to participate in co-curricular activities. She said such activities boost the child's self-confidence and improve their stage performance. She also assured to organize many more such programmes to improve the penetration of classical dance forms into the area and benefit the children.

ZPM Komji Linggi said that such workshops encouraged the children and helped develop their mental health. Extra-curricular activities should be concentrated upon as it helps in the all-round development of the children.

Linggi also said that the classical dance workshops helped instil moral values, ethics and discipline in children.
