Nagaland: 750 Meters Vertical Garden Inaugurated in Kohima

KOHIMA: The Kohima Forest Division, as part of the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP), officially opened a 750-meter Vertical Garden on Thursday.

To improve the quality of the air, 600 air purifier plants were positioned along the walkway, which extended from Classic Island Junction to Box Cutting Junction. The department has issued an appeal to the public to abstain from theft, though, afterwards, it was reported that pots and flowers had already been taken.

A QR code was also introduced during the event by PCCF & HoFF, Dharmendra Prakash, Department of Forests, Environment & Climate Change. For the first time, he made the department's participation in the Hornbill Festival known, highlighting its role as an addition to the supervision. He called for efforts to improve, maintain, and secure the facility, stressing its long-term effects and making suggestions about what might happen in the future.

RD, District Administration, KMC, PHED, Urban Development, and Transport were among the departments that received work allocations under NCAP.

In order to reduce air pollution through the use of air purifying plants, the Department of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Nagaland, concentrates on developing green cover, with Urban Greening and Vertical Gardens serving as components.

Apart from the aim of reduction of air pollution, this vertical garden is also expected to be an added attraction complementing the aesthetics of the city. The step was taken ahead of the Hornbill festival which is expected to host thousands of tourists from across the country and even abroad.

Also, the state of Nagaland celebrates its statehood day on December 1 as the region received the category of a state on the same date in 1963. Several key political leaders of the nation wished the citizens of the state on this occasion.

On the occasion of the state's foundation day, several leaders including President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, and Union Home Minister Amit Shah greeted the people of Nagaland on Friday.
