Nagaland Govt Urges NSCN-IM To Continue Talks With Centre

Zeliang said that the core committee has requested the NSCN(IM) to continue the talks as it is only through this that an agreement can be reached.

Kohima: The Nagaland Government's Core Committee headed by state chief minister Neiphiu Rio has urged the NSCN (IM) to continue talks with the Centre.

The appeal was made during the during a marathon meeting with the NSCN (IM) on Saturday.

As per the Nagaland UDA chairman TR Zeliang, NSCN(IM) leaders after returining from New Delhi said that they will not hold any further talks with the central government.

Zeliang said that the core committee has requested the NSCN(IM) to continue the talks as it is only through this that an agreement can be reached.

According to Zeliang, the core committee will also inform the central government about the discussions held with the NSCN (IM).

Commenting on the same, state government spokesperson Neeba Kronu said the meeting was held to develop a better understanding with the NSCN (IM) for an early resolution of the Naga issue.

''Various objections were discussed in the meeting which lasted for about four hours,'' he added.

As per Kronu, both the NSCN-IM and the core committee of the Nagaland government agreed that further discussions are needed to on the outfit demand's for a separate flag and separate constitution.
