Kohima: Did you know that Nagaland is no longer with India? Well according to e-commerce giant it is so. Nagaland is outside India! While the NSCN (IM) is still trying hard to convince the Central Government to give them a separate flag and a Constitution, e-commerce players like Flipkart appear to have given them a separate state already.

In yet another big blunder by Flipkart, the online shopping website told a customer from Nagaland that they do not provide services outside India. Here is what exactly happened. A customer from Nagaland asked Flipkart on its Facebook page, why they were not delivering in Nagaland. Flipkart's reply will leave you shocked. Flipkart wrote: "We appreciate your interest in shopping with us. However, our sellers do not provide our services outside India".

While social media is now abuzz with sharp, stinging comments against Flipkart and highlighting once again the fact that how little people of other parts of India know about the Northeast, the issue has been very strongly flagged by Tripura's royal scion, former Tripura Congress President and now founder and chief of Indigenous Progressive Regional Alliance (TIPRA) Pradyot Deb Barman. He mentioned the whole incident on his Facebook page.

This is not the first time that Flipkart, one of the leading e-commerce players has done such a blunder. In August this year, Flipkart which interestingly is an Indian company started by two software engineers, Sachin Bansal and Binny Bansal, and is headquartered in Bengaluru, had landed itself in trouble in social media by selling costumes which they claimed are traditional attires of Nagaland but was absolutely wrong.

Incidents like these reiterate the kind of ignorance that most Indians from other parts of the country have about the Northeast. Despite several efforts by filmmakers and several civil society organizations and organizations and associations who hold Northeast festivals in different parts of India, the lack of knowledge about the region continues.
