DIMAPUR: In a symbolic gathering at the Council Headquarters, Naga Unification Camp, Khehoyi, the GPRN/NSCN celebrated the 16th Naga Unification Day with solemnity and pride. The event commenced with the unfurling of the Naga national flag by National Tatar Hoho (NTH) speaker Inaka Tsuqu, a moment steeped in historical significance. The ceremony continued with a guard of honour, paying respects to the fallen Naga patriots who played pivotal roles in the quest for unity.
As the special guest, Inaka Tsuqu extended warm greetings and offered homage to the courageous Naga patriots who sacrificed their lives for the cause. Reflecting on the journey leading to the unification of warring Naga national factions in 2007, Tsuqu emphasized the profound significance of a united national movement. He asserted that the collective desire and aspirations of Naga pioneers would soon be realized with the blessings and guidance of the almighty God.
Alezo Venuh, the envoy to the collective leadership, shared insights into the political negotiations initiated between the Naga national political groups (NNPGs) and the Central government. Narrating the process that began in 2019, Venuh revealed that the negotiations had concluded, and the awaited final agreement held the promise of resolving the longstanding Indo-Naga political issue. Encouraging the audience, Venuh called for a rededication to the achievements made since 2007, underscoring the importance of commitment to realizing the Naga political solution.
The welcome address was eloquently delivered by Kilo Kilonser Hothrong Yimkhiung, setting the tone for the event. A poignant moment of silent prayer honored the martyrs who sacrificed for the Naga cause. The program concluded with a benediction from Manging Konyak, assistant chaplain at GHQ Church, bringing a spiritual dimension to the commemoration.
The 16th Naga Unification Day stands as a testament to the Naga people's resilience, unity, and unwavering commitment to their political aspirations. The event not only celebrated past achievements but also looked ahead with hope and anticipation towards a conclusive Indo-Naga political resolution.
