Central Government Allocates Rs 68.02 Crore to Nagaland Through NDRF

KOHIMA: Nagaland would receive an additional 68.02 crore rupees in government aid through the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF).

According to an official release on Monday, the high-level committee, presided over by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, approved further federal assistance of Rs 1,816.162 crore under the NDRF for five states that had flood, landslide, and cloudburst damage in 2022.

Assam would receive Rs 520.466 crore, Nagaland Rs 68.02 crore, Himachal Pradesh Rs 239.31 crore, Karnataka Rs 941.04 crore, and Meghalaya Rs 47.326 crore among these five states.

In addition to the monies, the Center has already given assistance the states through the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF), The central government distributed Rs 15,770.40 crore to 25 states under the SDRF and Rs 502.744 crore to four states under the NDRF during the fiscal years 2022–23.

The announcement stated that the central government had sent inter-ministerial teams to these states right away after the disasters without first requesting memoranda from them.

Together with the other departments, such as PWD, agriculture, the water resources department, and the state disaster reaction force (SDRF), the disaster management authority throughout all districts has prepared to combat the destructive floods that strike the state every monsoon.

Every year, the deluge causes the deaths of people, animals, and property.

The Assam State Disaster Management Authority's (ASDMA) state executive committee has, in the meantime, given its approval to the request to give Rs 11 lakh to the general administrative department for the refurbishment, repair, and expansion of the state emergency operation center.

This would be a component of the Emergency Response Support System project's implementation.

"In order to discuss the necessary preparations for dealing with the floods during the monsoon, the districts have called meetings with the departments. The ASDMA hasn't yet scheduled a central meeting, though. The districts will meet with it soon to discuss the preparations," the official added.
