KOHIMA: Naga People’s Front (NPF), part of Nagaland’s ruling coalition, on Wednesday urged the Centre, NSCN (IM), and NNPGs to speed up the political dialogue and reach a logical outcome to Nagaland’s pending political problem.

This was one of the seven resolutions adopted during the party’s central office bearers’ (COB) meeting held at the party headquarters.

The dedicated efforts of the NPF leaders and workers during the February 23 Assembly elections was also acknowledged by the participants. The logistical support provided by the party’s Manipur unit came in for praise.

The two victorious party MLAs, Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu and Achumbemo Kikon were also congratulated at the NPF meeting, while those present commended all other party candidates for their unstinted determination in the face of challenging odds.

In the meeting, NPF leader Liezietsu talked to the participants about the challenges faced by NPF MLAs in 2022, in retrospection of the events when some members defected from the party at the eleventh hour during the Assembly election.

Liezietsu pointed out that it was a difficult time to hold on to resources, but stopped from blaming those who left. He emphasized the singular nature of their attempts to justify their defection by laying the blame on the party and its president.

Liezietsu urged them to look inwards and consider coming back into the NPF fold for a better future, suggesting that any attempt at justification would not lessen the act of defection itself.

While many changes were occurring, he said, the long-standing Naga political problem remained unresolved. A political history- based resolution was necessary to solve the issue, rather than a new political philosophy, Liezietsu believed.

NPF’s commitment to the political philosophy inherited from their elders was underlined by him as the ‘honourable’ path to resolving the Naga problem. The party would persist in their resolve until its goal was achieved, he reiterated.

Liezietsu advised the younger generation not to be swayed by the present coalition government’s attempt to divert their attention from the Naga political issue.

He stressed on the fact that the Naga political issue would remain on the table until an honourable, acceptable, and inclusive solution is reached.

In his brief speech, the party’s commitment to its ideology and principles was reaffirmed by NPF Secretary General and MLA Achumbemo Kikon.
