DIMAPUR: In a recent development, the NSCN (I-M) Union Territory (UT) office has issued a stern warning to non-local businesses operating in Dimapur town, urging them to refrain from exploiting the names of locals in their trade licenses. The organization highlighted the increasing number of complaints from the public, citing instances of illegal activities such as adulteration, price manipulation, and the duplication of goods. Allegedly, these activities were conducted under the guise of local identities, while non-locals reaped extra profits, leaving the actual locals and the general public as victims.
In response to these concerns, the NSCN (I-M) emphasized its support for legal businesses but vehemently declared a zero-tolerance policy for those engaging in illegal activities using the names of locals. The organization aims to protect the interests and welfare of the local population while ensuring that businesses operate ethically.
Furthermore, the UT, NSCN/GPRN issued directives to owners of nightclubs and restaurants, mandating the closure of their establishments before 10:30 pm. This decision comes as a response to reports of young girls engaging in immoral activities during late hours, often in compromising situations with married men and non-local businessmen who entice them with money and alcohol. The NSCN (I-M) stressed the importance of upholding the dignity and honor of women in Naga society, expressing dismay at the exploitation of young girls for financial gain.
The organization acknowledged the alarming prevalence of illegal drug use among the youth, citing substances like Spasmo Proxyvon (SP), Sunflower, Alprazolam, Codeine cough syrup, and others. In response, the UT, NSCN/GPRN pledged to take stringent action against those involved in the illicit drug trade, emphasizing the need for a comprehensive approach to curb this growing issue.
As the NSCN (I-M) addresses these multifaceted challenges, the community awaits the implementation of these measures to ensure the well-being of its residents and the preservation of ethical business practices in Dimapur. The organization's commitment to safeguarding the local population from exploitation and promoting a morally upright society reflects its dedication to maintaining the integrity of the region.
