Tribe's Costume To Be Worn By Employees Of Nagaland Tribal Affairs Department On Wednesdays

This initiative has been taken to promote Naga traditional attire.

Kohima: The staffs and officers of the Nagaland Tribal Affairs department have been directed by the department to wear their own traditional costumes during work hours on Wednesdays.

This decision has been taken by the Nagaland Tribal Affairs department to preserve and promote the rich Naga culture and attire.

This initiative has been praised by Nagaland Higher Education & Tribal Affiairs Minister and state BJP President Temjen Imna Along 

In one of his tweets he said, "I applaud the decision of #TribalAffairs Department under Govt of Nagaland, for initiating the trend of wearing traditional costume every wednesday. This will aid to preserve the Naga traditions as well as help one stay connected to their roots."

This decision has also been termed as a humble step in regard to conceptualising and promoting the rich traditional attire of the many tribes of Nagaland by the Joint Director & Head of the Department of Tribal Affairs, Sino Phom. 

The notice was issued by the Nagaland Tribal Affairs department on August 27 and was implemented on September 1.
