Chief Minister P.S. Golay on Thursday appealed the Gangtokians to support BJP candidate Y.T. Lepcha for this bye-polls like that they had done to the SKM candidate within the past 2 Assembly elections.
Addressing a joint campaign meeting with Gangtok voters here, Sikkim Chief Minister P.S. Golay thanked the native public for electing the SKM candidates within the Assembly elections of 2014 and 2019. This time, we are seeking your support once more for the candidate of SKM-BJP alliance, he said.
“We are assured that the Gangtokians will show their similar love and ensure success of our alliance candidate with majority votes within the returning bye-elections. The alliance candidate can work as a bridge between the Sikkim government and Centre,” said Golay.
The joint campaign meeting was attended by BJP leader and MoS Kiren Rijiju, State BJP leaders and SKM functionaries.
Golay said Gangtokians are in an exceedingly win-win situation and ought to Y.T. Lepcha be elected as their MLA. The SKM president accused the previous SDF government of not giving justice to the business community and undermining the political rights of Bhutia-Lepcha communities. He requested Rijiju for his support to make the Sikkim visit of Karmapa a reality and fulfil the long unfinished demand of the Sikkimese.
