Guwahati: Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) President, P S Golay is set to embark on a State wide tour for emgaging the people at grassroot level towards the founding"Parivartan" call of his party. He will be starting from Doduk under Daramdin constituency in West Sikkim
SKM spokesperson Jaconb Khaling while addressing the media at a Press conference in Gantok, that the "Parivartan Sankalpa Yatra" was kicked off on November 27. During the Yatra, Golay would interact with villagers of every village in the Daramdin Constituency till DEcember 3.
After the Daradim Constituency, Golay will travel to Zoom-Salghari constituency from December 4 to 7 followed by Rinchenpong constituency from december 11 to 15.
Talking about the objective of Yatra Khaling said,"The objective is to meet the villagers at the doorstep and interact with them to know their grievences and problems. The SKM President will delibarate with them and explore the solutions in consultations with the villagers. The solution would be included in the future programme of the SKM. Khaling further said that the other objective of the Yatra is "to tell the people that "Parivartan" is the need of the hour and a must for Sikkim. We will tell the people about the importance of 'Parivartan' and make them determined towards bringing a change in Sikkim"
After his tour of all the three constituency , Golay will be inaugrating the party circle office for south and west districts at jorethang on December 17. Next He will attend a week long seminar of SKM at Rolu, south district. The party will also celebrate the decadal anniversary of Rolu Picnic on December 21.
It may be mentioned that it was at the Rolu picnic held on December 21, 2009 where Golay first publicly declared his revolt against the ruling Sikkim Democratic front and Pawan Chamling, still bein a SDF legislator at that time.
Khaling also informed that the tour of the three constituencies in the West Sikkim is the first phase of the yatra. In the 2nd phase the yatra will cover the south and west district and then move towards the east district before culminating the yatra in the North district
Noteworthy that SKM had lost all the sixteen seats in south and west districts during the 2014 Assembly election in the state. The 10 seats which the party had managed to win was all from the east, north and sangha districts.
