Governor Ganga Prasad today handed over grant-in-aid to various organizations and Self Help Groups (SHGs) in a special audience held at Raj Bhawan here. The organizations namely Namcheybong Gram Panchayat Unit, Ranikhola Farmers Co-operative Society, Sunakhari Self Help Group and progressive farmer Saroj Rai were handed over the cheques of grant-in-aid by the Governor, a Raj Bhawan release informs.
The Governor expressed his pleasure in visiting the organisations during his tour on February 2 and seeing them working at the grassroots level for the welfare of the farming community. He stated that the grant-in-aid were token of encouragement towards good work done by them so far and they should endeavour to expand their scope and scale of activities in future for the benefit of larger community.
In another engagement in the evening, the Governor granted audience to the nine-member delegation of Members of Standing Committee on Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water and Rural Development of Odisha Legislative Assembly. The delegation was led by the chairman of standing committee Devi Prasad Mishra. The delegation is in Sikkim on a two-day official visit starting today.
In a brief interaction with the Governor, the members expressed happiness over the status of Panchayati Raj Institutions and shown keenness on exploring mutual cooperation and partnership in tourism and other allied sectors, the release mentions.
