Sikkim: Indian Army Refutes Claims of Restricting Tourist Movement in Sikkim

Trishakti Corps clarifies its role in issuing permits and assures proactive assistance to tourists

Sikkim: Reacting to the recent claims by the Indian Army that it bans tourists from passing through the Jawaharlal Nehru Marg (JNM) in Sikkim, the Trishakti Army issued a statement refuting these claims. The Corps recently had clarified that it plays no role in issuing or checking licenses for public or tourist vehicles, nor does it erect barricades around JNM to block public transport. While the Indian Army acknowledged the existence of temporary police checkpoints set up by the state police to check and verify licenses issued to tourist vehicles, it reiterated that it was not involved in the process. The Corps said it has conducted rescue operations in the past, bringing stranded tourists to safety with food, shelter and medical assistance.

On February 21, It comes in form and so on the JN Road incident had lodged a complaint with the army for not allowing tourist vehicles despite having valid permits. The military deployment is aimed at addressing any misconceptions and reaffirming their commitment to supporting tourists in the region while maintaining security along the border.

The clarification based statement issued by the Indian Army comes in response to reports of the stakeholder of tourism located in the Dzuluk area and along the JN Road further processed the filing complaints against the Army for allegedly disallowing the tourist vehicles despite accurate permits.

In this matter Army's release progressed to address any misconceptions and reaffirm its commitment to assisting tourists in the region while maintaining security into the concerned border areas.
