Sikkim: Police Arrest Double Murder Accused Within 3 Hours

Gangtok: Sikkim Police on Saturday apprehended a double murderer within two and half hours after it registered a complaint at 8 am.

As per reports, a complaint was registered against a person named Ajai Rai at Lachen Police station at 8 am for allegedly killing his two friends on Friday night.

As per reports, the incident took place, when Rai entered into an altercation with the two victims and another person while chopping wood in the Zema forest.

All four of them were reportedly drunk at that moment and as the altercation heated up, Rai allegedly stabbed the two victims identified as Prem Limboo and Dhan Bahadur with a dagger.

Seeing this, the other person named Som Bahadur Limboo, fled from the site to save his life.

Later, Som Bahadur Limboo, an eyewitness of the double murder informed the Police station about the murder of Prem Limboo and Dhan Bahadur after 10 pm in the forest.

After receiving the information of the same, the police swung into action and apprehended Rai within three hours.

Meanwhile, an investigation in this regard is underway and the bodies of 2 victims have been recovered.

Recently, the Guwahati Police also added another feather to its cap as it rescued three minors within a span of 48 hours from different locations in Assam.

The Guwahati police nabbed one Dhaneswar Biswas, who allegedly kidnapped a minor girl from Dhupdhara, the Goalpara district yesterday.

''An EGPD team from Basistha PS rescued a minor girl from Dhupdhara yesterday. One Dhaneswar Biswas, who had kidnapped the girl, was arrested. Legal action has been initiated,'' the city police tweeted.

In another such case, the police rescued a minor boy on Tuesday who was missing from Ganesh Madir colony and handed him over to his parents. Taking to the micro-blogging site Twitter, Guwahati Police said.

Besides this, an East Guwahati Police Department (EGPD) team from Khetri PS rescued one Jatin Deka of Khetri from Nowgam in Jammu and Kashmir.
