The Sikkim Progressive Youth Forum (SPYF) has reiterated its demand for complete implementation of IPHS (Indian Public Health Standards) in all hospitals including PHC, PHSCs, and CHSCs in Sikkim and free medicines and other medical services for all the people of Sikkim.
A team of Sikkim Progressive Youth Forum members today submitted the demands in a memorandum signed by over 10,000 people across the State to State Health minister Dr. M.K. Sharma at his official residence, a SPYF release informs.
The SPYF members during their meeting with the Health minister apprised him about the miserable plight of the condition of the health centres across the State.
The minister showed his roadmap of the work he is undertaking in the State in health sector. He assured the organisation that all their demands shall be fulfilled in the coming budget and the drastic change shall be observed at ground zero, two months after the budget.
However, the minister has asked for some time to fully equip the hospitals with the required number of specialists like anaesthetists and radiologists. He has assured that all the hospitals shall be equipped with the required number of nurses, junior doctors, medicines, machines etc. as per the IPHS norms and all the healthcare services shall be provided free of cost to all the citizens of the State, the SPYF release adds.
