TRIPURA: In a recent incident at the Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) Airport in Agartala, six Bangladeshi nationals were apprehended by the Tripura police while en-route to Kolkata. The individuals raised suspicion due to their behavior and lack of valid documentation during questioning, leading to their detention by the authorities.
Abhijit Mandal, the officer-in-charge of the airport police station in Agartala, revealed that the police had received information about individuals acting suspiciously at the airport, prompting their investigation. Upon further inquiry, the detained individuals failed to produce the necessary documentation to verify their identity and travel plans. They eventually admitted to being Bangladeshi nationals.
According to Officer Abhijit Mandal, the individuals confessed to having entered India illegally through Tripura, crossing the border from Bangladesh. Their ultimate destination was West Bengal, and they had chosen the MBB Airport as their route. This unlawful entry into India raised serious concerns about security and immigration control.
