Tripura to go under lockdown for 3 days starting Monday; Complete details here

The Tripura Government has taken the lockdown route once again to break the transmission chain of the infectious disease

Guwahati: Tripura government announced a three-day total lockdown in the state starting Monday, to break the chain of the spreading of the dreaded coronavirus or Covid-19. The lockdown will be in effect from 5 am of July 27 to 5 am of July 30.

One more person succumbed to the virus in the northeastern state, taking the toll to 11, while 106 fresh infections pushed its caseload to 3,778, a health official said on Saturday, July 25.

Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb, in an address, urged people to cooperate fully with the Government to make the upcoming lockdown a success. Bringing grim tidings, Deb announced that the number of positive active cases have been rising at a rapid rate. At the same time, Biplab Deb thanked the people of the state for following the rules and regulations and amenities of the Government to fight the battle against the Covid-19. Deb also announced that the fatality rate in the state is 0.29%. "We have conducted 30,000 tests per million", Deb announced.

The Tripura Chief Minister further announced that 2,000 beds have been made available, and 86 ventilators have been set up. He further said that there is an abundant stock of PPE kits in the state as a protective measure against the virus.

Biplab Deb further announced that the rapid antigen tests will be conducted across the state to detect the cases of COVID-19 and prevent the possibility of a spread in the community level. Deb further implored the people of the state to follow the Government prescribed norms and not to venture forth from their houses unless absolutely necessary.

Deb expressed hope that the state will be able to completely break the 'corona chain' in the times to comes. "We have to ensure that we save ourselves and our families and also take the economy forward, Deb stated.
