Expecting Better Than Before Performances in Tripura Poll: Dr Manik Saha

AGARTALA: Today was the last day for campaigning for the Tripura Assembly elections scheduled to be held on February 14 and leaders of all the parties left no stone unturned in promoting their comrades who are appearing for the elections.

Speaking in one of the political rallies, the chief minister of the previous BJP government, Dr Manik Saha on Monday gave assurance of a landslide victory to the Bharatiya Janata Party and form the government once again. He has mentioned that the party will get even more seats in this election compared to the previous one and beat both the Communist Party India (Marxist) and Congress as well as the local TIPRA Motha.

“You've heard of a tsunami, something like that will happen. Anything can happen but it will not be less than 2018. In 2018, we got 36 seats and our alliance partner got 8 seats. So this time we will get more than 36 seats," said the chief minister of the previous government.

The Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi also took part in an election rally in the capital city of Tripura. This is the second time the senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader has participated in an election rally in the state of Tripura within a week.

Elections in the state of Tripura will take place on February 16 and the voting process will start as well end early. The counting of the votes will be conducted on March 2 along with Nagaland and Meghalaya.

"They (the opposition) is doing traditional politics. PM Modi changed the definition of politics...(Opposition) are doing arithmetic as to how many (votes) they can get but we work for public. No arithmetic works in front of public's trust," the ex-cm of the state mentioned about the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and Congress coalition in the state.

Meanwhile, an isolated incident of election-related violence was reported again from the state leading to the deployment of security forces in the affected area.
