Hema Malini Campaigns for BJP in Tripura

AGARTALA: Popular actor of the past and Member of Parliament, Hema Malini visited the state of Tripura to campaign for her party, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday. She visited the state as a star campaigner for the previous chief minister of the state, Dr Manik Saha.

The actress-turned-politician visited the state and addressed a major political rally in the Shantipara area of the state capital of Agartala. The chief minister of the previous Bharatiya Janata Party government will be appearing from the Town Bordowali constituency in the upcoming polls in the state.

Apart from the star campaigner and the former chief minister of the state, the Mayor of the Agartala Municipal Corporation- Deepak Majumdar, Councillor Ratna Dutta and several other leaders and members of the Bharatiya Janata Party attended this event.

Speaking to the crowds, she mentioned that the youth of the state plays a very important role in its development. She also called on the young generation to come forward and exercise their voting rights on February 16. She also iterated on the development that has come in the northeast Indian state during the tenure of the previous Bharatiya Janata Party government. Tripura state has improved a lot during this period. The BJP government will be re-established and will do more developmental work." she added.

Speaking during the election campaign, the BJP candidate for the Town Bordowali constituency, Dr Manik Saha mentioned that the people have seen the development and bring them back to power for the next five years.

Talking about the recent incidents of election-related violence in the state, he said, "The CPIM party which has carried out life-threatening attacks on Congress workers, killed them, today the leadership has joined hands with them for votes." Congress party workers will never accept that. In this situation BJP will come back to power in the state. People are eagerly waiting for BJP to come to power. When the 16th comes, people will exercise their rights and bring the BJP to power."

According to reports, large crowds of people gathered to catch a glimpse of the star.
