Agartala: Aditya Mishra, chairman of the Land Port Trust of India (LPTI) accompanied by manager of the Integrated Check Post, Agartala visited Subroom on Thursday and reviewed the progress of the proposed Special Economic Zone and the Maitry Setu being constructed on River Fenny.
Local MLA Shankar Roy and Sub-divisional Magistrate Tarit Kanti Chakma also were there and discussed the necessary steps needed to speed up the work.
The team expressed satisfaction over the progress of the work and pointed out some more steps for early beginning of the International Trade Center.
Talking to the reporters, Mishra said the Government of India is very much interested for early beginning of the International Trade Center and has already allocated some fund for the purpose. He did not disclose the allocated amount but was hopeful that the money will be released next week.
He specially measured the distance of Sabroom Railway Station from the Maitry Setu and enquired about the process going to be implemented for loading and unloading of goods. He also enquired about the condition of the road between the railway station and the bridge.
He also visited the sites selected for setting up of Inter-State Bus Terminal and several industries near Sabroom College. The proposed Buddhist University also will be located in this area.
