Agartala: Tripura Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath has claimed that the per capita income of the people of Tripura has increased substantially since the BJP-IPFT coalition government came into power little more than one and half a year ago.
He said the per capita income of the state has been assessed at Rs 1,13,467 in the year 2018-19 which was just Rs 1,00,331 in 2017-18, the last year of the Left Front government .
The minister said it is a very good performance but there is no reason to be complacent as we are still far behind the national average which is Rs 1,26.406 per capita. He said the government is working hard to make Tripura Srestha (best) Tripura and our endeavour will continue till achieve our target. He said the present government had to begin with a burden of Rs 289 revenue deficit left out by the former Left Front government. Their budget deficit was five per cent of Gross State Domestic Product which was much more than permitable limit. He further said the previous Left Front government left out many projects half done and it was one of the main reasons for high deficit and the present government is finding it difficult to overcome the problem.
