Schools in Tripura to reopen for classes 11 and 12 from October 12; Check details here

According to reports, the decision to reopen the schools was taken by the Tripura government following a high-level meeting held on Thursday

Agartala: With the Centre allowing schools in the country to reopen for the higher classes by following COVID-19 protocols, the Tripura government on Friday announced that schools in the state shall open for students of classes 11 and 12 from October 5.

To attend the classes, however, the students will have to get written consent from their respective parents. This was confirmed by the state's Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath.

According to reports, the decision to reopen the schools was taken by the Tripura government following a high-level meeting held on Thursday that was chaired by the education minister himself.

Vice-chancellors of Tripura Central University and Maharaja Bir Bikram State University, and the directors of Elementary, Secondary and Higher Education Departments, and other officials of the Education Department, were present in the meeting.

Education Minister Nath informed reporters that the Tripura Ministry of Education had issued a notification in detail along with the standard operating procedure (SOP) for reopening of schools from September 21. He stated that since 10 states across the country have already reopened their schools, the Tripura government also thought of reopening the schools.

The minister further added that 50 percent teachers would attend schools every day by rotation to conduct the classes.

He further informed that for students in other classes, the schools will be opened in a phased manner after reviewing the situation.
