AGARTALA: The All India General Secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) mentioned that the citizens of Tripura are waiting to make a change in this election.

Sitaram Yechury, the All India General Secretary of the Communist Party of India was speaking from the capital of Tripura when he mentioned that the state is awaiting to make the change. He also mentioned that a triangular contest is unlikely in the state as the people clearly want a change.

"There is no democracy in Tripura now. The people of the state have been determined to establish democracy," mentioned the CPIM leader.

He went on to add that it is now a big issue regarding who wins in the state of Tripura, but the biggest demand of the citizens of the state is to re-establish democracy and the people are with CPIM and the other opposition parties.

He also blamed the ruling party for the misuse of money and muscle power towards influencing the opinion of the people during the tenure of the previous government. The politician also mentioned that a delegation of the Left Front Parties will meet the Chief Election officer to discuss the situation in the state and bring the situation in Tripura under control. The politician also took a jibe at the Bharatiya Janata Party government in the centre bringing the Adani Group into context.

It is important to note that even after the deployment of a huge security force in the state to prevent any untoward incident, a fight broke out between the supporters of TMC and NPP in Meghalaya. 31 people affiliated with both parties were arrested by the police to prevent any repetition of such incidents.

Tripura goes to elections on February 16 and three main parties, Bharatiya Janata Party, Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the Tipra Motha are expected to give a triangular competition in the elections.
