AGARTALA: The Chief of the newly created TIPRA Motha and a member of the royal family of Tripura, Pradyot Bikram Manikya Deb Barma has claimed that the election rallies conducted by his party is drawing more crowds than the same where Prime Minister Narendra Modi had taken part in. And he called it a sign of the results of the upcoming elections in the state.

The Tipraha Indigenous Progressive Regional Alliance commonly called the TIPRA Motha is competing for the first time in assembly polls in the state. They had been able to receive a good number of supporters to win the elections for the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council election in the year 2021.

"The BJP is an election winning machine, it has an expiry date," Pradyot Deb Barma said according to NDTV, adding that "you have to win people's hearts" to win elections.

Created with the core demand of a ‘Greater Tipraland’ for all the indigenous people of the state, the TIPRA Motha is being able to pull in a large number of supporters making it a major player in the upcoming elections.

The leader also mentioned that his party will be able to make a significant change in the upcoming polls. He expressed his confidence about a clean sweep in all the tribal-dominated constituencies as well as those with a significant Muslim and Dalit population.

The leader has kept his promise of not contesting in the elections himself and continued to campaign for the members of his party who are appearing. "We will not compromise on our core agenda of constitutional rights," he said.

The state has more than 32% tribal population whose demands were not met during both the age-old Communist Party of India’s rule as well as one term of the Bharatiya Janata Party. However, more power and autonomy to the tribal council in the state is one of the points on the BJP manifesto for the upcoming elections.

With the polling for the 60-member Tripura, assembly is scheduled for February 16 just a day away and counting about 15 days from that, it remains to see if the aspirations of the local leader is supported by the people of his state.
