Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has virtually started his campaign for the forthcoming election of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) scheduled to be held within the next four months.
After Gandacherra and Kanchanpur, he visited the tribal-dominated Kuifung area under Shantir Bazar sub-division of South Tripura District on Sunday as part of his ongoing public contact programme. Official sources said his public contact programme will continue and he soon will visit some other areas too.
The Chief Minister avoided any political activities during these visits as it was an official tour but the way he tried to reach out to the people gave an impression that the election is uppermost in his mind.
The CPI(M) won all the 28 seats of the TTAADC in the last election and is presently controlling it. The BJP is determined to capture the body this time and winning the tribal heart is a priority for them.
The visits attracted special attention as it was a total surprise to all including the local administration and the common people who found themselves caught by surprise when they saw Chief Minister of the State standing in their courtyards
The Chief Minister not only inquired about their problems but tried to give some instant solutions too. He visited the large water body at Naradpara and discussed with the officials and local elders about the prospect of utilizing it for fish cultivation.
He also visited the house of slain Supriya Mog, a student who was murdered mysteriously before the last Assembly election and assured the family members of a proper probe into the case.
