AGARTALA : On Thursday, Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha asserted that the state government has approved 'zero tolerance policy' against narcotics stuff. Saha participated in the state level meeting of the Narco Coordination Center at Civil Secretariat in Agartala. He approached everyone to congregate and make Tripura a drug-free state. The CM vowed in front of the officials present in the meeting to make Tripura free from drugs. He urged all the departments to work with complete coordination in achieving the desired goal.
A zonal office of Narcotics Control Bureau will also be established in Tripura, states the CM. Initiatives will be taken soon for the adoption of the zonal offices to enhance the check upon drug dealers and drug abusers.
Manik Saha delineated the measures undertaken by the state government against drugs. He advised for additional numbers of well trained dog squads and scanners specifically in the check points. Necessary actions shall also be taken by the concerned departments against the ones who are engaged in 'drug trade,' he stated.
The Chief Secretary JK Sinha was also present in the meeting and he said that, Tripura has impressed everyone by the satisfactory campaign against drug recently. He further mentions about the outstanding performance of the State's Forensic Science Laboratory. On October, Amit Shah had directed separate NCB zones for Tripura, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh
CM Saha said that Tripura follows the vision of Union Home Minister Amit Shah to opt for adoption of zero tolerance policy against drugs. He stands on the fact that there should not be any terms or condition when it comes to drugs. Obligatory assistance must be adopted by the Narcotics Control Bureau.
Apart from this, the role of the defense administration was also discussed in the meeting. The chief Secretary, Secretaries of different departments. and the zonal director of Narcotics Control Bureau participated in the discussion.
