Tripura CM Manik Saha attends 17th merit award ceremony in Agartala

The award distribution programme is organised by the Society for Welfare of the Mog Students.

AGARTALA: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha attended the 17th Merit Award and Freshers Meet 2023 on Sunday, an award distribution programme organized for the welfare of the students from the Mog community in Agartala. The award distribution programme is organised by the Society for Welfare of the Mog Students (SWMS). Every year, this society felicitates the meritorious students to appreciate them and encourage them towards building their careers.

Mogs are the Arakan tribe and migrated to Tripura through the Chittagong Hill Tracts. By religion, they are Buddhist.

On Saturday, CM Saha inaugurated the superspecialties, newly renovated paediatric and geriatric wards in the Govind Ballabh Pant (GBP) Hospital in Agartala. CM Saha said, "The state government is fervently committed to bolstering healthcare services and ensuring access to high-quality medical care for all citizens". "A slew of initiatives have been undertaken to upgrade healthcare infrastructure, making healthcare services more accessible and efficient for the public", added Saha. CM Saha made this announcement while inaugurating the 63rd Foundation Day of GBP Hospital.

The foundation day celebration took place at KLS Auditorium, GPB, and marked a significant occasion in the state's healthcare sector. During the ceremony, the Chief Minister unveiled a range of new services, including a state-of-the-art super-speciality building and a dedicated medicine ward for women. Reflecting on the hospital's historical significance, Saha highlighted the pivotal role played by GBP Hospital during the 1971 Liberation War. CM Saha said that, over the years, GBP Hospital has evolved into a full-fledged medical college with an expanded range of services. (ANI)
