Tripura Elections: BJP Confident of Retaining Power

AGARTALA: The Bharatiya Janata leaders expressed their utmost confidence regarding the results of the ongoing voting as voters lined up at the polling stations early in the morning of Thursday.

The reports from the ground suggested a total turnout of 40 % at 12 PM, 31.23 % of voters till 11 AM after about 13 % at 9 AM from across the state

Chief Minister under the previous Bharatiya Janata Party regime, Dr Manik Saha cast his vote at the Maharani Tulsibati Girls’ School. Expressing his confidence in a BJP win, he mentioned, “I am 100% confident that the BJP will secure absolute majority in the elections. The party may get more seats than it did the last time.”

Ex-CM during the beginning days of the Bharatiya Janata Party, and now Member of Parliament, Biplab Kumar Deb also address the media while going to cast his vote for the Tripura elections. He also mentioned that he is sure about the second win of his party in his state.

Previously Amit Shah had announced that the party will get a majority before halftime of the counting day. Representatives of both the TIPRA Motha and CPIM had mentioned that they will win.

The previous chief minister of the state, the lead of the Communist party of India (Marxist) Manik Sarkar appealed to the masses to remain calm and ensure peaceful voting across the state. He was addressing the media after casting his votes and speaking about the beating up of the CPIM polling agents ahead in a polling station in the state.

He mentioned that he is very happy that the people are coming out to vote in large numbers and expressed hope that the public will give a chance to the local party like the Bharatiya Janata Party and Congress. He also mentioned that he will be in politics till the demands meet a constitutional solution but not take part in elections or become the Chief Minister. “We will come with a majority on our own.”
