Tripura Govt Announces 5% Dearness Allowance Hike

Notably, with this decision of state government, the DA of the employees has risen from three percent to eight percent.

Agartala: Tripura government has cleared a proposal for a 5 percent hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) for state government employees and pensioners with effect from July 1, Information and Cultural Affairs Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said.

''The cabinet has approved a proposal for providing 5 percent DA to its employees despite resource constraints. With this, the state government will have to bear an annual burden of Rs 523.80 crore,'' Chowdhury told reporters on Tuesday.

As per a report by PTI, as many as 1,88,494 people, including 1,04,683 regular employees and around 80,855 pensioners, will be benefited.

Notably, with this decision of the state government, the DA of the employees has risen from three percent to eight percent.

Meanwhile, Tripura Government Employees' Federation (TGEF) welcomed the decision.

Speaking further, Chowdhury also informed that 200 engineers would be recruited in the Public Works Department through Tripura Public Service Commission.

For central government employees drawing their pay in pre-revised pay scale or grade pay of 5th CPC, the center has raised DA from the existing 368 percent to 381 percent. For central government employees drawing their pay in pre-revised 6th CPC pay scale or grade pay, the center has raised their DA from 196 percent to 203 percent. This new DA will be effective from 1st January 2022, the Office Memorandum issued by the Department of Expenditure at the Ministry of Finance informed.

Earlier, in September 2021, the Uttarakhand government decided to increase the DA to 11 percent, costing the state ₹1,800 crores. The CM Pushkar Singh Dhami then lifted the freeze on payment of DA to the state government employees on 25 August and increased it from 17 to 28%. Additionally, on 25 December CM Dhami approved percent additional DA for state government employees.
