AGARTALA: In a significant anti-narcotics operation conducted by the Tripura Police, a substantial cache of contraband suspected to be heroin, with an estimated value of Rs 10 crores, has been apprehended. The operation, based on specific intelligence inputs, was carried out at Churaibari village, situated on the Assam-Tripura border.
During the meticulously planned search operation, law enforcement officers successfully intercepted a Tata Sumo vehicle, bearing registration number MN-01-AK-3139 en route from Assam. The ensuing search led to the discovery of a hidden compartment within the vehicle, where the illicit heroin consignment had been discreetly concealed.
Weighing approximately 1.3 kilograms, the seized narcotics represent a substantial value in the illegal drug market. Officials involved in the operation have indicated that the confiscated heroin has an estimated street value of around Rs 10 crores.
The successful operation did not conclude with the seizure alone. Law enforcement authorities managed to apprehend three individuals who have been charged with the smuggling of these banned substances. The arrested individuals have been identified as Abdul Ali, Samar Krishna Das, and Prosenjit Das.
The arrested suspects are currently under interrogation, as authorities seek to extract further details regarding the origin, destination, and other potential collaborators associated with the seized contraband.
