AGARTALA: The Indian Prime Minister is campaigning for his party in the northeastern state of Tripura on Saturday. Speaking about the development in the state during the Bharatiya Janata Party rule, he blamed the Congress and Communist Party for the lack of development in the state.
Narendra Modi spoke to the citizens of Tripura during a political event held in the Ambassa region of the Dhalai district of the state. He attacked the governments before his party came to power for being a hindrance in the way of development in the state.
"For decades, rule of Congress and Communists hindered the development of Tripura. BJP govt brought development in Tripura. Violence isn't anymore the identity of Tripura. BJP made state free from fear and violence," said the PM in the Ambassa rally.
He also said the alliance between the Congress and Left had "pushed back Tripura on every parameter of development" but now Tripura has "double-engine of development". "Your votes will keep Leftists away from power, ensure the continuance of 'double-engine' government in Tripura," he added. "Congress, Left know only how to betray the poor, people suffered due to years of their misgovernance."
He also added that the Bharatiya Janata Party has freed the state of Tripura from violence and backwardness. "Earlier police stations in Tripura were captured by the CPM cadre but now under BJP rule, there's a rule of law in the state. Now, there's women empowerment in the state and there is an ease of living," Narendra Modi said.
Narendra Modi also mentioned that the state's economy has benefited immensely because of the Act East Policy of the central government and the state will become the gateway to the South East Asian region.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to address a second election rally in the state on Saturday.
