Tripura: Sourav Ganguly, Brand Ambassador of Tripura Tourism, Invites Global Visitors

AGARTALA: In a heartwarming gesture, the illustrious former captain of the Indian cricket team, Sourav Ganguly, extended a warm welcome to people worldwide, inviting them to discover the enchanting charm of the northeastern Indian state of Tripura. Ganguly, who has a special connection with the state due to his extensive cricketing career, proudly serves as the Brand Ambassador of Tripura Tourism.

On the occasion of World Tourism Day, Sourav Ganguly, affectionately known as 'Dada' by his fans, expressed his deep affection for Tripura and encouraged travelers to explore its diverse offerings. He emphasized that beyond cricket, Tripura boasts a rich cultural heritage, awe-inspiring temples, abundant natural resources, and remarkable developmental progress.

"World Tourism Day is a vital celebration for all of us. On behalf of Tripura Tourism, I extend a heartfelt invitation to people from across India and around the globe to visit this breathtaking state. Come and immerse yourself in the myriad facets of Tripura, including its splendid temples, pristine natural landscapes, and the incredible strides it has taken in development. Having spent significant time here while playing cricket, I wholeheartedly welcome everyone to experience the beauty of this state," said Ganguly.

Ganguly's association with Tripura Tourism was officially announced by Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha in May. The news was met with great enthusiasm, and Chief Minister Saha had a productive conversation with Ganguly, who graciously accepted the role.

"It's a matter of immense pride that the former captain of the Indian cricket team, Shri Sourav Ganguly Ji, has accepted our proposal to be the Brand Ambassador of Tripura Tourism. I had a telephonic conversation with him today. I am confident that Shri Ganguly Ji's participation will undoubtedly boost the state's tourism sector," tweeted Chief Minister Saha.

Tripura Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury personally visited Ganguly at his residence in Behala to extend the invitation and propose his role as the Brand Ambassador of Tripura Tourism. Ganguly enthusiastically accepted this prestigious role, further strengthening his ties with the state.

Looking ahead to the upcoming cricket World Cup, Ganguly expressed his optimism about the quality of cricket that fans can expect to witness. He acknowledged the significance of this global tournament and commended India's strong performance. He wished for India's team to maintain their exceptional form throughout the next 45 days.

"This World Cup promises to be a monumental event. It's a major tournament, and India has been performing exceptionally well, which is a source of great joy. We hope they continue to exhibit the same high-quality cricket in the coming 45 days," Ganguly remarked.

Sourav Ganguly, renowned for his distinctive leadership style, made his Test debut against England in 1996 and swiftly earned the moniker 'Dada' by scoring a century in his maiden Test at Lord's. Over his illustrious international career, the left-handed batsman amassed a staggering 18,575 runs across all formats.

Furthermore, Ganguly played a pivotal role in advocating for day-night Test cricket in India. His relentless efforts bore fruit when India hosted its first-ever day-night Test match against Bangladesh at the iconic Eden Gardens in 2019.
