Left with no option, people of Kokrajhar villages have organised Puja and have started praying hard to invoke the Lord to change the course of Gangnia river and help them face the river's fury. The river that flows down from Bhutan is flowing in full force given the rains and has caused massive erosion in Kokrajhar villages causing extensive damage to lives and property. 10 families have been washed away by the river. Bobiram Narzary, MLA from the region are standing by the people of the area in a show of solidarity with them. Speaking to the media, Narzary have requested the Assam Water Resources Minister Keshab Mahanta to release funds for relief and development of the region and also requested Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi to extend some help to the people of the region. The region is under Governor's rule.
