The newly formed Asom Jatiya Parishad is now busy strategising. Discussions and deliberations are on about how best to defeat BJP in the state elections next year. AJP leaders held meetings with leaders and members of youth wing of AJP – Yuva shakti in Kaziranga. The AJP and its youth wings have challenged the saffron party to win the elections on the development agenda and avoid playing the politics of religion and communalism and going to the polls on the basis of divisive politics. They also said that they do not consider Assam agriculture minister and Bokakhat MLA Atul Bora as a significant factor in the upcoming polls. But they feel that Congress could be a challenge. The youth leaders said that AGP leaders' attitude and stand regarding the Citizenship Amendment Act has hurt them a lot.
