The Federation of Industry and Commerce of North Eastern Region (FINER) has welcomed the tariff order issued by the Assam Electricity Commission (AERC) on March 29, 2023.
The Federation had earlier raised objections to the proposed power tariff hike by APDCL and filed a petition against the proposed hike by APDCL, which included an increase of 250-300p in energy charges and Rs 50- Rs 75 increase in fixed charges.
Accordingly, the AERC accorded approval to an overall decrease of around 1.2 percent in the tariff for 2023–24 over the tariff for 2022–23, including existing Fuel and Power Purchase Price Adjustment (FPPPA) charges.
Taking cognizance of the interests of all consumers the Commission has reduced energy charge rates for all categories, ranging from 10 to 20 paisa per unit".
FINER has said that the decision taken by AERC was a major relief for MSME consumers, small businesses, and especially low-income households and small businesses.
