Former United States President Donald Trump appeared in a Manhattan criminal court on Tuesday (April 4) where he was formally charged in a case pertaining to hush money payments.
The former US President was charged with hush money payments to Stormy Daniels during his 2016 election campaign.
Trump has been charged with 34 felony counts of falsifying business records, which he pleaded not guilty and denied all the allegations.
Manhattan’s District Attorney Alvin Bragg, who brought the charges against Trump, said in a statement, “During the election, Trump and others employed a “catch and kill” scheme to identify, purchase, and bury negative information about him and boost his electoral prospects…..
….Trump then went to great lengths to hide this conduct, causing dozens of false entries in business records to conceal criminal activity, including attempts to violate state and federal election laws.”
