Amid the feasting, bonfires and singing and dancing, traditional games were also played as part of the Magh Bihu celebrations. Moran celebrated Magh Bihu also known as Bhogali Bihu, the post-harvest festival of Assam with full enthusiasm. Magh Bihu celebrations started on Thursday early morning with the lighting of 'Meji'. Maghi Mela also has been organised on the occasion of Magh bihu. In Charaideo district, Maghi mela has been organised at Tarani field where interesting traditional games such as 'Tekeli bhonga' (Breaking a pot), 'Pisol khuta bogoa' (greased pole climbing), ' Rosi tona' (tug of war), and 'Choki khel' (musical chair), etc were held. Young and old and the women folk were seen taking part in these games with a lot of keenness. As traditional sports such buffalo fight, cock fights have been banned, sculptor Manas Pratim Bora made some models and figures depicting each of these sports.
