The wild elephant at Rangjuli Forest Reserve under Goalpara District is suspected to be in the condition of musth where it remains in an aggressive state because of a surge in testosterone level since past couple of weeks was finally tranquilized by the Forest Department to prevent further loss of human lives in the area.
Notably, State Forest Minister Parimal Suklabaidya earlier gave his nod after an eight-member committee submitted a detailed report on the issue.
As per reports, the Forest Department will now translocate the wild jumbo to a suitable location which has claimed 5 human lives on October 29, 2019.
So far the wild jumbo had claimed at least 55 human lives in Goalpara District since past 3 years.
