Kohima: The 2008 champions of Indian Premier League (IPL), Rajasthan Royals has called up Nagaland's 16-year-old leg spinner, Khrievitso Kense for trials.
They are the second team after Mumbai Indians to call up the spinner for trials.
The 16-year-old right arm leg spinner, Khrievitso Kense made his debut in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy for Nagaland and took 7 wickets in 4 matches.
Kense was shortlisted and underwent a 5 days trial with Mumbai Indians from January 20th to 24th, 2021 at Mumbai Reliance Cricket Ground. The result of the audition with Mumbai Indians is yet to be announced.
Kense will be reportedly leaving on Monday for a two-day trial with the Rajasthan Royals.
Kense played at Dimapur District Boys U-16 Inter-School Tournament in 2017-2018.
In 2018-2019, he represented Nagaland Boys U-16 in Vijay Merchant Trophy and took 5 wickets against Uttar Pradesh in his Debut Match in the Pre-Quarter Finals, and also attended Zonal Camp for North-East States and got selected for Inter-Zonal Tournament.
In 2019-2020, Kense also represented Nagaland Boys U-16 in Vijay Merchant Trophy.
Since the young cricketer has been called by both Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals for the trials, Kense would likely be named in the auction. Kensei will be the first-ever cricketer from Nagaland who is likely to take part in the T20 league.
While Rajasthan Royals started off strong with the win during the inaugural session of IPL, they finished in the last position in the IPL 2020, and they were the second-last team in IPL 2019.
The Royals franchise released Steve Smith, Akash Singh, Anirudha Joshi, Ankit Rajpoot, Oshane Thomas, Shashank Singh, Tom Curran and Varun Aaron. They have also traded out Robin Uthappa to Chennai Super Kings.
The IPL 2021 auction is slated to be held on February 18 in Chennai.
