Assam: 7 Players From Assam To Compete In CWG 2022 In Birmingham

The event will be held till August 8 and a 215-member Indian contingent of which 111 male players and 104 female players will CWG 2022.

New Delhi: As many as seven players from Assam will participate in the Commonwealth Games 2022 which is all set to kick start on Thursday.

The games will witness participation from 72 countries, featuring more than 4500 players competing with each other for a podium finish.

Of these, around 7 players from Assam such as Lovlina Borgohain, Hima Das, Shiv Thapa, Popi Hazarika, Tania Chowdhury, Nayanmani Saikia, and Mridul Borgohain will also participate in the games.

The event will be held till August 8 and a 215-member Indian contingent of which 111 male players and 104 female players will CWG 2022.

Meanwhile, the start performer Neeraj Chopra will miss the games as he has been ruled out of the games following groin injuries.

PV Sindhu and Manpreet Singh will be India's flag-bearers at Birmingham.

Notably, this time one of the attractions of these games is cricket, which has returned to these games after 24 years. Prior to this, the last time men's team participated in the Commonwealth Games was held in Kuala Lumpur in 1998.

This time women's cricket teams are too participating in this competition.

The opening ceremony of the Birmingham Games will begin at 7 pm local time i.e. 11.30 pm IST.
