GUWAHATI: The Assam Sports Journalists' Association (ASJA) organized a COVID-19 awareness programme for its members on Saturday. The programme was held at the conference hall of Directorate of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary in the city. During the function the association also distributed oximeters, masks, sanitizers and health cards to its members.

ASJA president Subodh Malla Barua in a brief speech said, "COVID-19 situation is still very grim and every day several number of COVID cases are surfacing across the state. Journalists are more vulnerable in this disease as they have to visit different places as part of their duty. It's in this backdrop the ASJA has organized this awareness function for its member."

The medicine specialist in critical care unit of Apollo Hospital Dr Rakesh Periwal in an elaborate speech highlighted as to how precautionary measures are to be taken to stay away from COVID-19.

The meeting was also attended by Additional Director of Health Service Dr Rajiv Sarma, Bharati Das, Director of Care Luit, Uday Borkotaky, a top official of Apollo Hospital, sports organizer Rajib Prakash Barua and Commissioner Secretary of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Ashoke Barman. Care Luit provided oximeters to the members of ASJA and health cards were distributed by Apollo Hospital.
